Unprecedented Response to Lung Cancer Screening Webinar

The American College of Radiology received an overwhelming response to its free webinar on lung cancer screening, supported by the Radiology Business Management Association and the Lung Cancer Alliance. Over 1,000 attendees participated in the hour-long, online session. The webinar covered Medicare’s national coverage decision on lung cancer screening and the latest updates on payment policy by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and private payers. Speakers included Ella Kazerooni, MD, MS, FACR, practicing radiologist at the Department of Radiology at the University of Michigan Medical School / Health System and Geraldine McGinty, MD, MBA, FACR, practicing radiologist at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Campus. Nearly 160,000 people will die from the disease — more than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. This proven test and the patient access to it that Medicare coverage allows is a life-saving benefit and a game changer in the battle against lung cancer. Some questions were addressed during the live session, however, additional questions may be submitted to LCScoverage@acr.org. A recording is available for those who were unable to attend or gain access to the live session. The slides from the webinar are also available. V...
