SIC UK National Conference Plans Coming Together…

SIC UK National Committee got together this weekend to finalise plans for the third SIC UK National Conference due to be held on the 15th and 16th March in Liverpool. The theme this year is ‘Research to Reality’ and we are expecting an exciting selection of speakers and talks, as well as a couple of debates which are bound to get people voicing their opinions. The all important Saturday night social was also discussed and a table booked at the famous Master Chef restaurant in Liverpool. After a delectable feast we will undoubtedly head out for a little boogie in the great city which was European Capital of Culture in 2008. We also discussed the recent developments at all of the UK HIVE branches which will be covered in the second day of the conference.

Finally, we think it is worth mentioning the new film release ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ which many of the committee have seen and highly recommend. It is the story of a man who, diagnosed with AIDS in the 80s and given only a few weeks to live, begins illegally importing drugs into the US that are not yet licensed but he has found improve his symptoms. He sells them to other people with HIV who have bought membership to his ‘Dallas Buyers Club’. We think this is a must see film and would be great to watch as a group or at a HIVE Social.
