Peak flu season generally starts in February.

Zeba Hasan MDEven though it has been a mild winter, we are still seeing the usual winter viruses and infections in our pediatric patients. If your child hasn't received their flu shot yet, now is a great time to do so! Infants and children 6 months and older can receive the flu vaccine.  Influenza activity often peaks in February and can last into May. It's definitely not to late to get immunized. Just a reminder, for babies who are receiving the flu shot for the first time, they will need a booster dose one month after the first dose.Symptoms of the flu include fevers, muscle aches, and fatigue. They can also include cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, or vomiting. If you think your child may have the flu, call the office to schedule a sick visit. As with most illnesses, make sure your child is drinking plenty of fluids and getting good rest. The CDC website is an excellent resource for more information: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/.You can also call our office with any specific questions.Take care and stay healthy,Dr. Hasan
