Orange Theory Fitness – @OTheoryFitness – variety works

This past Labor Day weekend, my daughter asked me to do a workout at OTF.  I doubt that anyone else could have convinced me to not play golf that Sunday, but when your daughter asks, you go to check out her new workout passion.  I had not previously done group training, but her description sounded attractive. As I reminded readers yesterday, exercise has become a major obsession over the past 2 1/2 years.  I run, do some resistance training, and walk a great deal.  I had worked with a private trainer, but those sessions (albeit productive) got stale.  At times my running becomes stale.  While I was exercising regularly, I was intrigued that my daughter had become so passionate about OTF. As usual, my daughter was right.  OTF has a brilliant concept, and I have steadily become more enthusiastic about these workouts as the cornerstone of my program, with the supplemental gym trips providing a different variety. So what is an Orange Theory Fitness session?  Each day provides a different mix of aerobic and anaerobic activities that last 1 hour.  Every day that you go, the workout plan is a surprise.  Each session accommodates up to approximately 24 participants.  The OTF gym has 12 treadmills, 12 rowers and 12 resistance training stations. Generally, we spend half of our time on the treadmill.  I run, but some in the class will jog, others will walk (with inclines) and those who can neither walk nor run have an exercise bike or an elliptical as an option.  A key feat...
