Neonatal prebiotic supplementation increases the levels of synaptophysin, glun2a‐subunits and bdnf proteins in the adult rat hippocampus

This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. The hippocampus of neonatal rats fed daily with a prebiotic (BGOS) from post‐natal day 3 ‐21, contained elevated levels of neuronal proteins (GluN2A, synaptophysin and BDNF) at post‐natal day 22 and 56, compared to controls. This suggests that early‐life prebiotic supplementation may influence the development and maturation of the hippocampus.
