Imaging of Blunt Abdominal Solid Organ Trauma

In the setting of blunt abdominal trauma, diagnostic imaging occupies a crucial role in detecting and characterizing injuries to the solid organs. Injuries to the liver, spleen, kidneys, pancreas and adrenals share many common features, but each has its own unique considerations that require special attention from the radiologist. This paper will focus initially on the commonalities to solid abdominal organ injuries, then conclude with sections dedicated to features specific to each of the solid abdominal viscera.
