PHA docs volunteering their time and talents

Dr. Shakir treating a refugeeOver the past year, the world has become transfixed by the Syrian refugee crisis.  In the light of the dramatic need of millions fleeing their homeland to escape war, PHA physicians have joined many doctors around the world whom have given their time to help.  This past March, Dr. Shoshara joined the initial medical mission of the Syrian American Medical Society to serve refugees at the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, the second largest refugee camp in the world.  Last month, Dr. Shakir also gave of her time to serve these refugees. We salute the efforts of Dr. Shoshara,     Dr. Shakir and all physicians whom have used their skills and their time to bring relief to those whom have lost everything in the face of this humanitarian tragedy. Dr. Shoshara and Dr. Shakir were among a few doctors discussing their experiences on WBEZ’s “Worldview” radio show which you can listen to at https://soundcloud.com/wbez-worldview/chicago-doctors-helping-syrian-refugees-in-jordan.**************************************************************Annual Turkey DriveDr. Shoshara distributing turkeysDr. Shoshara and Dr. Shakir would like to thank all who donated to the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive.   1,500 turkeys were distributed to families in need at 3 separate Chicago Public Schools (all of whom have official "Low-Income" rates of 96% or higher) and the Inner-City Muslim Action Network in the Jackson Park and...
