OCD and Eating Disorders: A Strong Correlation

National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is the last week in February. According to the Eating Disorders Center (EDC) of Denver, research suggest that nearly 2/3 of people with eating disorders (ED) were previously diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. About 40% of current eating disorder sufferers have OCD, and another 20% have social anxiety. The EDC of Denver states that the majority of eating disorder sufferers need treatment for anxiety in addition to eating disorder treatment to have long-term success.
