Proximal Humerus Fractures, ORIF, and Key Steps in Fracture Reduction and Fixation

Proximal humeral fractures are generally treated nonoperatively. However, when the orthopedic surgeon is faced with displaced proximal humeral fractures that require surgery technical challenges often frustrate even the most talented of surgeons. This manuscript is designed to provide a methodical, easy-to-reproduce roadmap for surgeons to simplify this complicated procedure. Specific attention is paid to real-life, low-cost pearls and keys to avoiding pitfalls to maximize patient outcome and minimize surgeon frustration.
