ConclusionsAccurately assessing the prevalence of misuse, abuse, and addiction in the pain population has been challenging due inconsistent definitions between studies. Additional high‐quality research is needed in this area utilizing consistent definitions and in reducing the risk of opioid‐related overdose fatalities.
