Neuroendoscopic Removal of Astrocytoma in Unilateral Ventricle in a Patient With Enlarged Perivascular Spaces: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

The authors report a case of astrocytoma, located in the right lateral ventricle in a 22-year-old man who presented with headache. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) also showed that the patient had multiple enlarged perivascular spaces. The patient underwent endoscopic removal through an aquiline incision placed 3 cm from the midline and 3 cm in front of the coronal suture. The histologic examination of tumor revealed a WHO I-II glioma. Despite the postoperative intraventricular hemorrhage and catheter infection, he was discharged home without neurologic deficits. The endoscopic fenestration rather than excision should be considered as the first surgical procedure.
