Journeying with HIV Patients Across the Healthcare Spectrum – An Examination of a Seamless Model of HIV Psychiatry of a Large Urban General Hospital

Over the past several years, HIV/AIDS has become one of the most serious epidemics worldwide, with significant impact on mortality, morbidity, overall quality of life, and the use of health care services. While mortality from AIDS has been largely controlled in many countries through the availability of antiretroviral therapy (ART), several physical and neuropsychiatric complications remain serious concerns[1]. The care of persons living with HIV (PLHIV) is increasingly complex and demands an innovative model of care delivery involving multidisciplinary teams and interprofessional collaboration[2, 3].
