Genetic control of the environmental variance for birth weight in seven generations of a divergent selection experiment in mice
This study has demonstrated that the genetic control of the birth weight environmental variability is possible in mice. Nevertheless, before the results are applied directly in farm animals, it would be worth confirming any other implications on other important traits, such as robustness, longevity and welfare.
