Hospital Librarians Are You Involved in Quality Assurance?

Late last year, Kaiser Health News  reported that “More hospitals are receiving penalties than bonuses in the second year of Medicare’s quality incentive program, and the average penalty is steeper than it was last year….” Librarians can have a role in their institution’s efforts to meet the quality measures set by Medicare.  The NN/LM MCR would like to share what’s happening in this region with you, but first we need YOU to share with us what you’re doing. Filling out a brief (5-7 min) questionnaire will inform us with what you’re doing. We’ll share what we learn about your involvement in this area in the RML News and in Plains to Peaks Post. Deadline for completing the questionnaire is February 11, 2014. We’ll report raw data back in the February 18th RML News. You can see how your hospital is doing at Bonuses And Penalties For U.S. Hospitals.  Percentages are given for the Value Based Purchasing Bonus/Penalty (these are quality and patient satisfaction measures) and the Readmmissions Penalty (Readmission within a month after discharge). /ch
