Neurothekeoma of the tongue in a 9-year-old child: Case report and literature review

We report a case of cellular neurothekeomas of the tongue in a 9-year-old female child. A contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance showed a submucosal lesion in the posterior third of the tongue that stretched deep into the intrinsic muscles. On immunohistochemical the lesion was negative for S-100 protein emphasizing their lack of relationship to nerve sheath myxoma and other nerve sheath tumors.
