Pandora Syndrome

Feline interstitial cystitis (FIC) is defined as chronic irritation voiding signs in cats with sterile and cytologically negative urine. Recent investigations indicate that cats diagnosed with FIC have significant differences in neurological and endocrine systems. A single episode of lower urinary tract signs (LUTS), the most common presentation, must be distinguished from chronic recurrent disease before presuming a wider range of health issues. Clinical problems outside the lower urinary tract are common in those with a diagnosis of FIC and include signs related to the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, skin, central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and immune system.
