April 15, 2015: NIH Launches Largest Clinical Trial Focused on HIV-Related Cardiovascular Disease "Researchers have begun enrolling participants in a multicenter international clinical trial to test whether statin administration can reduce the risk for major adverse cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks, strokes, and heart disease, in people with HIV infection."   April 15, 2015: Whitescarver Steps Down as Director of NIH’s Office of AIDS Research   "Jack Whitescarver, Ph.D., who has led the Office of AIDS Research (OAR) at the National Institutes of Health since 2000, announced that he will step down from his post, effective July 1, 2015."   April 13, 2015: NIH, South African Medical Research Council Award $8 Million in HIV, TB Grants   "The National Institutes of Health and the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) are awarding 31 grants to U.S. and South African scientists to support research targeting HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and HIV-related co-morbidities and cancers."   April 8, 2015: Anti-HIV Antibody Shows Promise in First Human Study   "A single infusion of an experimental anti-HIV antibody called 3BNC117 resulted in significantly decreased HIV levels that persisted for as long as 28 days in HIV-infected individuals, according to Phase 1 clinical trial findings published online today in Nature."
